Welcome to SheffSki!

On behalf of myself, the committee and the members, it’s my pleasure to offer you a very warm welcome to SheffSki! From holidays of a lifetime to amazing socials, trips and competitions, there’s never a dull moment at the biggest sports club at the University of Sheffield. We’ve got all kinds of exciting things in store for the year ahead, and myself and the committee are super stoked! Before anything else, SheffSki is an inclusive club and we’re always looking to grow the SheffSki family. Absolutely ANYONE get involved – you don’t even have to be a skier! So whether it’s trying skiing for the first time, competing in varsity or coming for a drink (or 10) on one of our legendary socials, please don’t be shy!

Undoubtedly the biggest highlight of the year is the Ashes 2 Alps Winter Varsity Holiday, where we hope to crush Hallam for a seventh year running. This year we will be descending upon beautiful La Plagne! Aside from beating Hallam, the holiday includes a week of skiing, partying and generally loving life with your best mates. It’s seriously great. Much of the same will follow on our Easter holiday - details will follow in the coming months. Another annual highlight is a weekend of antics in Edinburgh for the British University Dry Slope Championships (BUDS).

As a club we compete (and support) at the Kings dry slope series, the BUiSC indoor series and monthly competitions at Castleford indoor slope. We also run fortnightly skiing sessions for all abilities, legendary fortnightly socials and plenty of other activities like trampolining sessions, quizzes and multiple club meals.

Myself and the committee cannot wait to welcome both new and returning members with open arms and embark on what is going to be the best year SheffSki has ever seen. Please get involved and make special memories with friends for life and ensure your experience as a student in Sheffield the best it can possibly be! Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me or anyone else from the committee – we’re more than happy to help.

Piste and love,

Alex Glasse (President 2017/18)
